Steatit is an alternative to porcelain and consists of approx. 90 percent soap stone, which is a very soft mineral. During the production it has had a temperature treatment at approx. 1.300° C. Various additives provide it with special properties.
Benefits compared to porcelain:
Higher density
Higher value with regard to bending and compression strength and elasticity.
Other properties:
Temperature-resistant and dimensionally stable up to 1000 ° C (the Steatite-house may come in contact with hot objects but the environment temperature must not exceed 200 ° C, as the brass parts will desquamate)
